First question: WHY? Second question: How do we make it better?
First, let me preface this piece by saying its basis lies in a survey taken only across the U.K. The United Kingdom isn’t that big. And no, I am not trying to rationalize the results away because I have secret fantasies about strapping, burly Scottish men (although I do). But the fact does remain that, throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, it is the Scotsmen who are unhappiest between the sheets.
According to this study, not only do they have the worst sex lives, but they also are the worst at vocalizing their sexual problems to doctors. Stiff British upper lips and all that, I suppose.
The research found that half of Scottish men said they were “dissatisfied” with their sex lives, compared to just 32% of men in Northern Ireland.
The study also showed 40% of Welsh men and 47% of English men were not content with their sex lives, reports AOL UK.
Married or partnered men reported the most happiness with their sex lives, with widowers reporting the least.
Dr. Geoffrey Hackett, a physician and consultant in sexual medicine at Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham, will use the research in a presentation at the Men’s Health World Congress in Vienna.
To this study I say one thing and one thing only — the Scots obviously haven’t had many American women trying to get underneath their kilts. They’d be much more satisfied if they did!
